Recertification as a Breast Center
The “Stephanshorn Breast Center” at Hirslanden Clinic Stephanshorn has once again been certified by the Swiss Cancer League and the Swiss Society of Senology. This is the fourth time this distinction has been awarded, confirming the high quality of the center’s interdisciplinary breast cancer care and underscoring its leading role in Eastern Switzerland.
In recent years, the Stephanshorn Breast Center, together with its partner, the TBZO ( Tumor- und BrustZentrum Ostschweiz ), has grown to become the largest breast center in Eastern Switzerland. Each year, more than 1,000 women with breast conditions are treated here, including about 300 with breast cancer. This makes the center one of the most important centers of excellence for breast medicine in Switzerland.
The certification sets high standards for medical quality, interdisciplinary collaboration, treatment processes, and continuous quality assurance. The successful fourth recertification confirms that the Stephanshorn Breast Center consistently meets these standards and cares for its patients in accordance with the latest scientific findings.
“This recertification is a valuable recognition of the work of our entire team. It shows that our patients can trust that they will receive treatment that meets the highest quality standards,” says Prof. Dr. Michael Knauer, a surgeon at the Tumor- und Brustzentrum Ostschweiz. “Our goal is to offer every woman the best possible medical care while also providing personalized, compassionate support throughout her entire treatment.”
At the Stephanshorn Breast Center, specialists from more than 10 different fields work closely together. From diagnosis through treatment to follow-up care, patients benefit from streamlined processes, coordinated treatment decisions, and comprehensive care all under one roof. This interdisciplinary approach is a key factor in the center’s high quality of care.
With approximately 6,500 new cases each year, breast cancer is the most common form of cancer among women in Switzerland. Against this backdrop, specialized centers with proven quality and experience are becoming increasingly important.
