Prof. Dr. med. Jian Farhadi

Prof. Farhadi's career is distinguished by numerous international postings. He is a fifth-generation surgeon.

He completed his medical studies at the University of Basel and the Pitié Salpetrière in Paris. This was followed by several years of surgical training at the Regional Hospital Burgdorf and the Inselspital Bern. After receiving a Swiss National Science Foundation grant, Prof. Farhadi undertook a research fellowship at Yale University in the USA.

He completed his training as a specialist in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery in 2005 at the University Hospital of Basel. During his specialist training, he completed a further year of research in the field of tissue engineering at the Department of Biomedicine. Prof. Farhadi qualified as a professor in 2007. In 2016, he was awarded the title of professor at the University of Basel.

To pursue his interest in breast surgery and deepen his expertise in this area, he began a fellowship at Guy's and St. Thomas' Hospital in London. Following this, Prof. Farhadi was elected as a Consultant and, in 2012, as Head of Department. During his term of office, he developed the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery into one of the largest in Europe. This comprised 24 senior physicians, 18 consultants and 14 assistant physicians. During this time, Prof. Farhadi trained numerous specialists in the field of aesthetic and reconstructive breast surgery. Some of these former fellows now work at renowned Swiss centers for plastic surgery.

After returning to Switzerland, Prof. Farhadi began working as a partner of Dr. Cédric George at the Klinik Pyramide am See. This was followed by close collaboration with Prof. Rageth and PD Dr. Tausch from the Breast Center Zurich. Today, Prof. Farhadi is a core partner and Chief Physician of Plastic Surgery at the Breast Center Zurich.
